WVYL – Vinyl Radio Launches April 13 to Support Student Radio Scholarships

As seen on Goldmine, Radio Ink, RAMP, Radio Online, and OnTheDial.Net. Read the ‘First Listen’ on Ross on Radio! ORDER OUR OFFICIAL T-SHIRT! Please DONATE!

A new pop‑up station, WVYL – Vinyl Radio, will broadcast nonstop from 12:00 a.m. Monday, April 13 through midnight Friday, April 17 to raise money for scholarships for students who want to work in radio. The 120‑hour special event leads into Vinylthon, the global celebration of radio and records on April 18 and 19, organized by the non‑profit College Radio Foundation.

WVYL will air one‑hour shows from college, community, and commercial broadcasters around the world, plus programs that spotlight vinyl and other specialty content—created and hosted by real people, not algorithms. The launch show will feature legendary broadcaster John Records Landecker, who will also receive the first‑ever Vinylthon Legend Award during the broadcast.

All donations to WVYL support the College Radio Foundation’s “Fueling Radio’s Future” campaign and its Next Step Radio scholarships, which help students who need financial assistance to continue their radio education and careers. Please donate today!

WVYL is the official radio station of Vinylthon 2026!

  • “What stays with me is not only the music, but the voices. Each era of my life is marked by a particular DJ, a particular tone, a particular way of speaking that made the experience human and immediate.”
